This week, Year 5 continued their fitness unit with a fantastic focus on standing jumps. Throughout the term, we’ve been learning how strength, agility, and speed help us perform better in PE activities.

We explored how using explosive strength – that sudden burst of power – can help us jump further from a standing position. Pupils compared their jumping distances before and after applying this technique, and the results were impressive!

We captured some brilliant action shots during the session – showcasing powerful take-offs, mid-air moments, and strong landings. These photos really highlight the energy and effort Year 5 put into their learning this week, it was great to see the effort and enthusiasm. Unfortunately, Miss Williams was chief camera operator, so we did not capture her amazing ‘Olympic-worthy’ leaps!

We are also starting every lesson with some skipping, each week we are getting better. We have worked on speed and steady skipping, as well as trying a few spins and tricks. Photos to follow next time!
