During the summer, here is a fun activity you can do. Write a postcard to your new teacher/s in September telling them about something you have been doing over the six weeks holiday. Bring it back with you on your first day. They will love to hear about what you have been getting up to!

Children will be expanding their knowledge of the subject through a range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. As part of English lessons, children will be learning in more depth about how to edit their own writing; improving it to make it more effective. Grammar work will form part of the weekly lessons, as well as part of Guided Reading sessions.
Fables, stories in familiar settings, fantasy, imaginative stories.
Instructions and explanation, information texts, biographies.
Image poems, syllabic poems, it’s raining cats and dogs.
Can you edit your work to include a clause in your writing?
This term children will be focusing on improving their number knowledge, as well as improving their ability to use the written methods. Investigations and problem solving will form part of their weekly lessons to develop reasoning skills.
It is also really important to continue work on times tables and their corresponding division facts. There will be a times table test every Monday and Tuesday. Children will have a set amount of time to answer a mixture of 30 times tables questions. Children should be confident with multiplication and division facts of numbers up to 12 x 12.
