What an amazing World Book Day we’ve had in Year 4! From the moment the children stepped through the door, the classroom was filled with colour, excitement and a whole lot of imagination.

We were treated to an incredible range of costumes – Paddington Bears, wizards fresh from Hogwarts and sparkling Tinkerbells sprinkling fairy dust around the room. It was wonderful to see how much effort the children (and their grown-ups) put into bringing their favourite characters to life.

A Letter from… Yellow Crayon?!

Our day began with a surprise: a rather disgruntled letter from Yellow Crayon – written by Miss Beacom in character! Yellow Crayon had a lot to complain about:

• being overworked,
• being pressed too hard,
• and being expected to colour far too many suns!

The children were absolutely hooked. After reading the letter, they jumped straight into becoming authors themselves, crafting thoughtful, creative, and often humorous replies to reassure the unhappy crayon. Their responses showed empathy, humour and fantastic writing skills. Some even promised to give Yellow Crayon a well-earned rest! Thank goodness! 

We also made some time to get outside in the sun and enjoy some peaceful reading time in the outside classroom.
