Year 4 had a fantastic start to their cricket journey this week with their first session of continuous cricket, led by their cricket coach. The session was filled with energy, teamwork and plenty of enthusiasm as pupils put their skills into practice.

Each team had the opportunity to bat and field, giving everyone a chance to experience the different roles within the game. This helped pupils develop a better understanding of how a cricket match works and the importance of supporting one another as a team.

During the session, the children learned some key cricketing skills. They discovered that fielders need to spread out to give maximum coverage and reduce scoring opportunities. They also learned that the fastest way to return the ball to the bowler is through strong teamwork, throwing accurately between players rather than running long distances with the ball.

The coach was impressed with the pupils’ focus and willingness to learn, and it was clear that confidence grew as the session progressed. There were certainly some budding cricketers in Year 4, with several pupils showing excellent throwing, catching and batting skills.

It was a highly enjoyable and active session and Year 4 are already looking forward to their next cricket session where they can continue to build on what they’ve learned so far.
