This week in Year 4, we continuing our work on Tessellations. This weeks challenge was to create a designs fish tessellation design in their sketchbooks!

To get started, everyone followed a very specific step-by-step guide to create their fish template. It was important to be careful with each step so the shapes would tessellate properly. Here’s what we did:

1. Started with a square — the base of our design.
2. Cut and flipped shapes from the sides to transform the square into a fish.
3. Traced the template again and again to fill the page.

No Gaps Allowed!

Once the fish templates were ready, the real challenge began – tracing them carefully across the page. Everyone had to work hard to make sure there were no gaps between the fish. That meant focusing, checking edges and sometimes starting over to get it just right.
