Our Year 4 children had a truly memorable day at the Chance to Shine Cricket Festival, held at the beautiful grounds of Hampton and Solihull Cricket Club. Despite being met with a few heavy downpours throughout the day, the children’s enthusiasm and energy never faltered – and what a fantastic time we all had!

The festival brought together several local schools, giving our pupils the opportunity to compete, collaborate and showcase everything they have been learning in their cricket sessions. From the very first ball, it was clear just how much progress the children have made. We saw some excellent batting, with confident strokes and smart decision-making, alongside impressive fielding skills, including quick reactions, accurate throws, and great teamwork in the field.

One of the most heart-warming aspects of the day was the way our Year 4 pupils conducted themselves both on and off the pitch. Not only did they play with determination and skill, but they also demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship. They supported one another brilliantly and extended this kindness to other teams too – offering positive encouragement, celebrating good play (whether it was their own team or others), and showing genuine respect throughout the festival.

This event was not just about cricket – it was about building confidence, developing teamwork and creating lasting memories. Well done, Year 4!
