Celebrating World Mental Health Day
This week, our class took part in a special afternoon of activities to mark World Mental Health Day; a time to reflect on the importance of looking after both our bodies and our minds.
We began by talking about why mental health matters and how we can take care of our feelings just like we care for our physical health. The children listened with great focus and curiosity, showing a real understanding of how important it is to feel safe, calm, and supported.
Mindfulness Moments

We explored mindfulness through a relaxing technique called finger breathing. This simple but powerful method helps children regulate their emotions when they feel overwhelmed. It was wonderful to see them practising it with care and concentration.
Creative Calm

Next, we enjoyed some peaceful mindfulness colouring. The classroom was filled with soft music and gentle chatter as the children expressed themselves through colour; some children chose to write about what they’re grateful for. The children worked together to maintain a calm and safe space, and they were rewarded with two class points for their brilliant teamwork and kindness!

One Kind Word

To end the day, each child wrote One Kind Word about someone else in the class. It was heart-warming to hear such lovely, thoughtful words being shared. Every child received a positive message and the smiles around the room said it all!
We’re so proud of how the children embraced the spirit of World Mental Health Day. Their kindness, mindfulness, and gratitude made it a truly special experience.
Let’s keep the conversation going because mental health matters every day 💛
