This week, Year 5 had a truly unforgettable experience as we welcomed the one and only Professor McGinty, the time-travelling historian, into our school! With his suitcase full of surprises and his infectious energy, he whisked us away on a journey back to Victorian times. The children were transported to an era of strict discipline, hard work and chalkboards as they discovered what life was like for Victorian children- both in the workhouses and in schools. Through storytelling, role-play, and a treasure trove of fascinating props, Professor McGinty brought history to life in the most engaging way.

There were plenty of laughs along the way, as the children got hands-on with real and replica Victorian artefacts, and even had the chance to dress up in clothing from the time. From trying out old-fashioned punishments to learning about the daily routines of Victorian schoolchildren, the session was packed with fun and learning. It was a brilliant way to deepen our understanding of the Victorian era and to see just how different life was for children back then. The visit sparked lots of curiosity and conversation, and left us all with big smiles and a few sore cheeks from laughing so much!
