Year 6 have been exploring the theme of Remembrance through beautiful and thoughtful art. As we remember the brave soldiers who served and sacrificed during times of war, we’ve used our creativity to express gratitude and respect in a powerful way.

Our artwork began with a peaceful field of painted poppies, created using watercolours. We learned how to blend reds, oranges, and pinks to give each poppy a soft, delicate look – just like the real flowers that grow in Flanders Fields.

To contrast with the vibrant poppies, we carefully cut out silhouettes of soldiers using black sugar paper. These silhouettes stood tall and proud in our poppy fields, reminding us of the courage and strength of those who fought for our freedom.

As we worked, we talked about the importance of Remembrance Day – why we wear poppies, what the two-minute silence means, and how we can honour those who served, even many years later. It was a time for reflection, respect, and creativity.
