This week, Rowan Class took inspiration from Claude Monet to create their own impressionist style artwork using chalks and pastels. The children explored colour blending and produced some beautiful pieces.

Our new vocabulary, “glow” and “reflection,” came from our class book Little Glow, and helped us think more deeply about both Monet’s work and our own. I was really impressed with how the children developed their perseverance during this task. They spent time thinking carefully about their colour choices and experimented with different ways to use the pastels and chalks to improve their art.
