Last week, Year 2 embraced the theme of Anti-Bullying Week with creativity, kindness, and a whole lot of colour.

Odd Socks Day was the perfect way to kick things off. The children designed their very own pairs of “odd socks,” each one bursting with unique patterns and vibrant ideas. This activity sparked wonderful conversations about how being different makes us special, and how our differences should be celebrated rather than hidden. It tied beautifully into our current PSHE Jigsaw learning, where we’ve been exploring how we can celebrate each other’s differences.

Alongside this, our ‘One Kind Word’ jar has been filling up fast!  From compliments to helping hands, the children showered each other with compassion and encouragement. Watching them take pride in lifting each other up has been truly heart-warming.

What stood out most was the children’s understanding that Anti-Bullying Week is not just about one week in the calendar. They recognised that kindness and respect are values we should carry with us every single day. Their thoughtful discussions and caring actions showed us that they are growing into empathetic, considerate individuals who know the importance of treating others as they themselves would like to be treated.

We are incredibly proud of Year 2 for the way they embraced this theme. Their odd socks reminded us that differences make the world brighter, and their kind words reminded us that compassion makes the world better.
