Last week, Year 3 joined the whole school in celebrating Odd Socks Day as part of Anti-Bullying Week. It was a fantastic opportunity to remind ourselves that being different is something to celebrate!

During the week, we read stories that explored themes of friendship and kindness. Through drama activities, we acted out scenarios to show what makes a good friend and how we can stand up for others if we see unkind behaviour. The children shared brilliant ideas about listening, helping, and including everyone.

Our creativity really shone through when we designed beautiful odd socks to represent individuality and uniqueness. Each pair was full of colour and personality, showing that our differences make us special. We also created anti-bullying posters with powerful messages about kindness and respect. 

The conversations we had were important. We talked about:

• What makes a good friend?
• What to do if we spot someone being unkind?

The children agreed that kindness, empathy, and speaking up are key to making our school a safe and happy place for everyone.

Odd Socks Day reminded us that it’s okay to stand out and that together, we can make a big difference by choosing kindness every day.
