This term in PE, Acorn Class will be developing their gymnastics skills. We started by learning basic shapes such as straddle, pike, tuck, and star. We have been focusing on squeezing our muscles to hold each shape firmly and practising how to straighten our arms and legs when making straight and star shapes.

Once we were confident with our shapes, we moved on to using the apparatus. We know how important it is to move slowly and safely around the hall and to wait patiently for our turn. We have been practising climbing up and down ladders and we have been learning how to jump off the apparatus correctly by bending our knees and keeping our feet together when landing.

We also enjoyed jumping through hoops, making sure to jump with two feet together and land safely, or step carefully through the hoops. One of our biggest challenges has been climbing over the ladder – we are determined to master this skill, and with more practice, we know we will be able to do it independently!
