This half term in Science, Year 6 have been investigating the topic of light. We discovered that light travels in straight lines and learned about two important ideas: the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection.

The angle of incidence is the angle at which light hits a surface, and the angle of reflection is the angle at which it bounces off. We found out that these angles are always equal.

To put our learning into practice, we designed and built our own periscopes. A periscope uses mirrors to change the direction of light so you can see over or around obstacles. It was amazing to see how the light reflected inside the periscope, allowing us to see things that were out of direct sight.

We had lots of fun testing our periscopes and thinking about real-life uses, like in submarines or even at sports events! This experiment really showed us how science can be creative and practical.
