What an amazing start to our Forest School sessions! Year 3 were full of excitement as we prepared for our outdoor learning adventure, making sure we were wrapped up in warm clothes, wellies, and waterproofs.

Our session began with Mrs Collett introducing us to the Forest School area and sharing some very important rules: “No lick, no pick, be careful with your stick!” We learned how to respect nature and how to carry sticks safely, an essential skill for all budding explorers. After that, we had time to explore our new surroundings, taking in the sights and sounds of the woodland.

Next came a fun scavenger hunt in small teams, searching for different natural objects. Using these treasures, we created beautiful woodland artwork, including butterflies, hedgehogs, and birds. The creativity was fantastic!

Finally, it was time for a stick-gathering competition! Working in house teams, we collected sticks and logs to see who could build the biggest pile. These will be used for den building next week, and we can’t wait! We discussed how longer, thicker sticks will make strong den frames, while smaller twigs will be perfect for camouflage.

Well done, Year 3, on a brilliant first session! Miss Rowlands was very proud and loved watching you learn outdoors.
