This half term in Design and Technology, Year 5 have been busy creating something very special… their very own stuffed animal toys! The children began by designing their creatures, thinking carefully about shape, colour, features and materials. Once their plans were ready, it was time to bring their ideas to life with fabric, thread and lots of perseverance! Throughout the project, the children developed some brilliant new sewing skills: running stitch, cross stitch, blanket stitch, and even threading their needles again… and again… and again!

Sewing isn’t always easy, but Year 5 showed fantastic determination. They took great care with their stitches, made thoughtful design choices and worked extremely hard to create neat, creative and unique soft toys. Every pupil produced something to be proud of. Their finished toys looked amazing, and their evaluations showed just how much they had learned—from improving stitch accuracy to solving problems when the thread got tangled.

Miss Williams learned something too… mainly how to untie lots and lots of tiny knots! Well done, Year 5. Your creativity, patience and resilience have really shone through this unit. We hope you enjoy showing off your fantastic stuffed toys at home.
