The children in Year 2 have been busy crafting their very own versions of George and the Dragon, drawing inspiration from the classic tale while adding plenty of imaginative twists of their own.

To bring their stories to life, they have been focusing on using a rich range of similes, personification, and carefully chosen adjectives. It has been wonderful to see them experimenting with language to create vivid settings, dramatic tension, and memorable characters. From dragons “as fierce as roaring thunder” to shields that “shivered in fear,” their creativity has really shone through.

Alongside their story writing, the children have also been working hard during our grammar drop‑in sessions. These short, focused workshops have helped them build confidence in using higher‑tier vocabulary and crafting more ambitious sentences. Many pupils have already begun weaving this new vocabulary into their stories, giving their writing greater depth and flair.

We are incredibly proud of the effort, imagination, and enthusiasm the children have shown. Their finished pieces are a joy to read.
