The Dragonfly children have been learning all about farms this week, exploring where our food comes from and how different crops are grown and harvested throughout the year. The children handled a variety of vegetables, noticing colours, shapes and textures as they talked about how they grow. To bring their learning to life, they worked together to chop, mix and prepare their own vegetable soup, taking great pride in creating something they could taste and share.

This experience supported their understanding of the world as they learned about food production, encouraged communication and language through rich discussion, and strengthened their physical development as they practised safe cutting and stirring skills. It has been a wonderful, hands‑on way for the children to connect with nature, healthy eating and the journey food takes before it reaches our plates.
