This week, our Ladybird children have been diving into the delightful world of Pip and Posy: The Birthday Party. The story sparked lots of excitement and imagination, so we followed it up with a hands‑on activity inspired by the characters’ celebration.

Using playdough, sprinkles, cake cases and candles, the children created their very own birthday cakes. It was wonderful to see how confidently they used their fine motor skills, rolling, shaping and decorating their dough creations with real focus and pride.

The activity naturally encouraged turn‑taking and social interaction too. The children loved singing “Happy Birthday” to one another and pretending to blow out their candles, just like in the story. There were plenty of smiles, giggles and moments of shared joy.

Activities like this help children connect stories to real‑life experiences, build their creativity and strengthen important early skills, all while having fun together. We’re so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic they were.
