This week we enjoyed our final Forest School session, and what a brilliant end it was! The children have loved spending time outdoors this half-term, and today they put all their skills into action.

We began by learning how to tie ropes securely, ready to help us transport our bundles of sticks and logs. Everyone worked hard to master their knots and use teamwork to move the materials safely. These logs were then taken to our special project…Finishing Our Dead Hedge! Over the past few weeks, Year 3 have been collecting natural materials to build a dead hedge, a fantastic wildlife habitat made from sticks, branches and logs. This week, we finally completed it! The children were amazed to see how their hard work had turned into a real structure that will support biodiversity and give small creatures places to shelter.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Forest School without plenty of mud! The children had a wonderful time exploring the environment, digging, collecting, and noticing changes in nature around them. We also squeezed in some more balancing practice on the slack line. The concentration, determination and giggles were fantastic to see. Lots of children showed brilliant perseverance and encouraged each other every step of the way. It’s been a fantastic Forest School journey, and Year 3 should feel very proud of everything they’ve created and achieved outdoors this half-term!
