Since we began logging our active travel in November, our pupils have completed an amazing 5,172 active journeys. Whether walking, cycling, scooting, or even taking part in “park and stride,” our children have truly embraced the challenge of travelling to school in a healthier, greener way.

This competition is a fantastic opportunity not only to celebrate sustainable travel but also to showcase the creativity of our pupils. As part of the entry process, children have been designing their own badge ideas—and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort they’ve put in.

Our top three entries above have been chosen to represent Yew Tree and entered into the competition.

The badge designs this year are vibrant, imaginative, and full of personality. Each entry reflects the children’s understanding of active travel and the positive difference it can make to our wellbeing and our environment. From colourful scenes of nature to clever symbols of movement and activity, the creativity on display has been truly inspiring.

We have loved seeing how confidently the children have expressed their ideas and how much pride they’ve taken in contributing to something that represents our whole school community.

Taking part in WOW not only encourages daily activity but also helps build lifelong habits that support:

• Health and wellbeing
• Environmental awareness
• Road safety confidence
• A calmer, greener school environment

The commitment shown by our pupils so far is already helping us move closer to these goals.
