In the build-up to Science Week, our whole school has been busy celebrating science through a fantastic range of home learning projects. It has been wonderful to see how much enthusiasm, creativity and effort the children put into their work at home, supported by their families.

Children across the school explored scientific ideas in practical, imaginative and thoughtful ways. The projects reflected curiosity, problem-solving and a real excitement for learning beyond the classroom.

We were impressed by projects such as sun dials, where children investigated how shadows change throughout the day and how the Sun was once used to tell the time. Others explored the science of flight by creating plane wings, testing designs and thinking carefully about how and why things fly.

There were also some excellent fact files about owls and how birds fly, showing careful research and clear presentation. Children shared fascinating facts about wings, feathers, habitats and adaptations. Engineering skills were demonstrated through the creation of catapults, helping children explore forces like pushes and pulls. And, of course, the erupting volcanoes were a highlight, bringing chemical reactions to life — to name a few of the many wonderful projects shared.

These home projects truly captured the spirit of Science Week: asking questions, investigating ideas and discovering how the world works. We are incredibly proud of the effort the children put into their learning at home and grateful to families for supporting and encouraging them.
