On Tuesday afternoon, we held our Family Planting Workshop, and it was wonderful to see children and families exploring and playing together.

The workshop featured six interactive stations designed to encourage learning through play and exploration. Our activities included:

• Pot decorating
• Bean planting
• Exploring a variety of seeds with magnifying glasses
• Sorting what a bean needs to grow from what it doesn’t
• Creating a giant beanstalk using spirals of paper, leaves, and imagination
• Bean yoga

Over the coming weeks, the children will observe their newly planted beans in school to support our learning about plant growth. This will help introduce and deepen understanding of key scientific vocabulary such as germinate, shoot, root, and seed.

A key aim of the workshop was to strengthen communication and language development. At each station, parents were encouraged to extend learning through key questions, prompts, and challenges. It was wonderful to hear the hall full of chatter and to see such fantastic engagement and focus from the children throughout the activities.
