Over the past few weeks, Year 5 have been busy developing their badminton skills in PE, and what fantastic progress they’ve made!

The children have been learning how to serve with control, practising both forehand and backhand shots, and working hard to keep a rally going with their partner. A big focus this term has been accuracy: aiming volleys carefully and sending shuttlecocks into floor hoops placed on the other side of the net. This led to some excellent teamwork, encouragement, and a few very competitive challenges!

During our final lesson, the class put all their skills into action by taking part in a series of mini games against their opponents. There was brilliant sportsmanship on display: cheering, great rallies and lots of competitiveness. Of course, no badminton unit would be complete without a few mishaps… including a surprising number of shuttlecocks ending up on top of the PE cupboards and the window sills (our growing collection seems to expand every week)!

Overall, the children have had a fantastic time, and their confidence and control on the court have improved enormously. Well done, Year 5!
