A Busy and Inspiring Term for Our Eco Team

What a busy and exciting term it has been for our Eco Council and the wider school community. Our pupils have shown real enthusiasm for protecting the environment and finding ways to make our school more sustainable.

Working With Caterlink on Sustainable Choices

In January, our Eco Team met with the Caterlink team to discuss how we can make our school meals more sustainable. Together, they explored ideas for reducing food waste, making environmentally friendly choices and keeping our school as eco‑friendly as possible. The children asked thoughtful questions and shared some fantastic suggestions.

Walk to School Badge Competition

This term, we also took part in the Walk to School badge design competition. Our pupils love earning their badges for active travel, and it would be wonderful to see one of our own designs chosen. Out of all the entries, three designs from our school were selected to go forward—fingers crossed for a winning badge!

Year 6 Investigate Plastic Pollution

As part of their geography unit, Year 6 have been learning about the dangers of plastic pollution and how it affects our environment. They carried out a school‑wide survey to find out more about our community’s recycling habits. Their questions explored whether families recycle at home, what items they know can be recycled and how important they feel recycling is.

Next Steps for Our Eco Council

While we already recycle paper in school, the Eco Council will be using the survey results to look at how we can expand our recycling efforts even further. This will be a key focus in our next meeting as we continue working towards a greener, more sustainable school.
