Year 5 kicked off their first Forest School session of the term this week, and what an adventure it was. We began by exploring the Forest School area, learning about the boundaries and how to look after the space. Once everyone knew their way around, the children set off on a scavenger hunt, searching high and low to see what hidden treasures the woodland had to offer.

Then came Mrs Collett’s challenge: to create a 3D piece of art using only natural materials found on the ground. No picking, just pure imagination. The children rose to the challenge brilliantly. Sticks became sculptures, leaves turned into patterns, and stones transformed into miniature masterpieces. Their creativity really did go “wild”, and the results were fantastic.

Even when the weather decided to join in with a sudden change, Year 5 didn’t let it dampen their spirits. Hoods went up, smiles stayed on, and the fun continued. Not even a bit of rain could stop us enjoying our Forest School session.

A wonderful start to our outdoor learning, and we can’t wait to see what the forest inspires us to create next.
