This term, the Eco Team have been busy meeting with Miss Allen, supported by Toby, to review the action points we set earlier in the year as part of our journey towards Eco‑Schools Green Flag status.

During our environmental review, the Eco Team noticed that there were no clear reminders in school about the importance of switching off taps. Water conservation is an important part of looking after our planet, so the team acted quickly by putting up new reminder posters around school.

We also discussed how we had noticed an increase in litter on the Key Stage 2 playground. To help remind everyone to take pride in our school environment, the Eco Team displayed posters encouraging pupils to put litter in the bin and help keep our playground clean and welcoming for everyone.

Our Forest School area has continued to develop beautifully this year. With the arrival of warmer weather, the Eco Team visited the field to check on the bird boxes and see whether we could spot any signs of new wildlife. Inspired by what we saw, the team decided they would like to add to our existing bird houses. Toby very kindly made four new bird boxes using recycled materials, supporting our commitment to reuse and sustainability. We now have 7 bird boxes in our woodland area! Amazing!

The Eco Team carefully chose where these new bird boxes should be placed, selecting spots in the central Forest School area so that we can observe wildlife and continue to learn about biodiversity.

Looking ahead, our next exciting project will be to create a Bug Hotel to provide habitats for insects and mini‑beasts. Miss Allen already has Toby exploring design ideas – watch this space!
