Culmington Manor Residential – Day 2

After enjoying our lunch, it was straight back into another exciting afternoon of activities!

Groups 15 and 17 both headed off to take part in fencing. Mrs Calvert and Group 17 made the climb up the hill to the fencing area, where they were greeted by their instructor, Kody. Once again, Kody commented on how impressed he was with the children from Yew Tree and their excellent listening skills. Mrs Calvert was particularly impressed with Gishika, who showed great courage and determination throughout the session. She was fearless when tackling challenges and even took on Kody himself!

Meanwhile, Miss Allen and Group 15 enjoyed fencing in the glorious sunshine. The session began with a fun and energetic game of “Heads, Shoulders, Knees, Spin… GLOVE!” which tested everyone’s reaction times and quickly became very competitive. After that, the children got kitted out and were ready to face off against one another. There were some fantastic bouts and plenty of determination on display, but everyone proved to be no match for Ava-Lily! She fenced brilliantly throughout the session and even managed to defeat Miss Allen. Well done, Ava-Lily!

Group 16 took on the underground maze, working together to complete a series of challenges in the darkness beneath the ground. Teamwork and communication were key, and there were smiles all around as they finally reached the exit! A special mention goes to Andrew, Aran and Steven, who worked brilliantly together to complete the maze and make it to the end.

After a short break, it was time to tackle the next activity of the day. Groups 15 and 16 took their turn on the climbing wall. Mrs Parsons was super impressed with Arthur, Jack and Pippa, who showed fantastic determination as they challenged themselves to climb as high as they could.

Meanwhile, Miss Allen and Group 17 enjoyed tackling the obstacle course in the sunshine. Kaden shot through the course like a rocket, while Gishika became rather familiar with one section of the net and spent quite some time trying to escape! The children particularly enjoyed the time trials and the challenge of scaling the rope wall.

We were incredibly lucky that the sun was still shining at tea time and were treated to a delicious BBQ. Excitement reached peak levels as it was finally time to hand out the tuck shop orders! Then, fuelled by fizz and sugary treats, we set off on our evening walk.

The walk took us through the beautiful surrounding fields, where we made friends with some sheep and cows – much to Mrs Calvert’s delight! We were told to frolic through the long grasses and even walked through a ford! After enjoying the countryside and fresh air, we made our way back to the centre with tired legs and happy memories, ready to settle down for a well-earned night’s sleep.

Another fantastic day at Culmington Manor, with every child continuing to challenge themselves, support one another and represent Yew Tree brilliantly. Now time to sleep!
