This week in Reception, we have been practising new routines and learning skills that will help us throughout the rest of the year.

We have been reminding ourselves how to walk calmly around school and use our manners when opening doors. We have thought carefully about how to tidy up both inside and outside, remembering to leave things as we found them. We have been following our saying: “Choose it, use it, put it away.”

The children have also been practising our lunchtime routines, including walking to the hall, collecting their cutlery, using the salad bar and tidying away their trays when they have finished. They have practised going out onto the playground after lunch and learnt what to do when they hear the whistle.

During carpet time, we have been learning how to talk calmly with our talk partner and share our ideas by “talking to our hand” before contributing to the whole group.
