The Acorn children have loved exploring our new musical instruments. The children listened carefully and discovered the different sounds each instrument can make.

We have been learning to keep to the beat, tapping and shaking our instruments together and listening closely so we could play in time. The children enjoyed singing a familiar song, joining in with actions and sounds, and using the instruments to accompany the music.

A big focus was learning when to play, stop and start, and the children did a brilliant job watching, listening and responding to signals in the music. This helped them practise self‑control, turn‑taking and teamwork while having lots of fun.

It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and confident as they played music together. We’re looking forward to many more musical moments in Acorn Class!
