The dragonfly children love taking the time with their peers and teachers to read wonderful stories together. Reading has astonishing benefits for children, giving comfort and reassurance, building confidence and security, as well as being relaxing and fun. Giving a child time and full attention when reading them a story tells them they matter. It builds self-esteem, vocabulary, feeds imagination and even improves their sleeping patterns This half term the children will be reading a variety of texts from the Pie Corbett reading spine, a collection of books that will build the children’s imaginations. This week the dragonflies are reading ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen.
