This week in art, Year 5 have been developing their drawing techniques. They practised techniques of hatching, crosshatching, stippling and circulism. Hatching is a near drawing techniques that can be used to create texture and shadows. Crosshatching is a technique that utilizes parallel, intersecting lines to shade an object. The closer together the line spacing, the darker your object will appear. Stippling is nothing more than using small little dots to depict shapes and shadows of still life objects. Circulism is basically drawing very tiny overlapping and intertwining circles. The circles do not have to be perfect to achieve this effect. They developed these techniques throughout the lesson and will use and apply these skills in their next piece of art.
