The ladybird children have been creating pine cone bird feeders to help keep the birds full this winter. Before beginning the activity, the children sat round to discuss types of birds with Mrs Gough, they went to look in the outdoor areas to see if they could spot any. Mrs Gough explained what the children needed to do, modelling how to roll the pinecone in the lard, and then roll in the bird seed. The children waited patiently for their turn, and enjoyed the process. The birdfeeders had ribbon attached to them after the children had finished creating them. In the afternoon the children went for a walk on the field to hang the feeders on the trees. We look forward to checking the feeders over the next coming weeks to see if the birds have been eating the seeds.
