Year 5 are currently developing their badminton skills in PE. Badminton is a net game. The aim of the game is to send the shuttlecock over the net and into the court area where your opponent is unable to return it.

Last week, developed our forehand serve. We practised serving to our partner from a distance. Once we were used to sending and receiving the shuttlecock we practised this by trying to achieve a rally with our partners.

This week we have further developed our serve. We have also explored different types of shots to play tactically against our opponents. We have practised shots designed to land on our opponents side without them being able to return it. We began to play short games and keep score.

The children have enjoyed the lessons so far. Here are some of their comments:
