This half term our Science topic is ‘Healthy Living’ and we are really enjoying learning about ways to keep healthy. This week, we have created a poster sharing information about how we can stay healthy. One of the things we learnt was that keeping healthy isn’t just about your diet and there are lots of things we must to do look after ourselves.

We have shared the importance of eating a balanced diet, drinking lots of water, exercising daily and ensuring your body gets enough rest and sleep. We were amazed to learn that children between the ages of 6 and 12 should be getting between 9 and 12 hours sleep every day. We explored the different food groups and look at the ‘eat well plate’ which explains what each food group does to help our body. It also explains that we need different amounts of the varying food groups and that if we eat too much of a certain food group, it isn’t good for out bodies.

As you can see from the pictures, pupils produced some informative posters and Mrs Griffiths and Mr Alberici were really impressed with their understanding of ways to keep healthy.
