Rowan class have been learning about floating and sinking over the last week and have decided to test different objects from around the classroom.

We asked the children to predict if the object would float or sink and we then tested it by putting it in some water. The children were wondering if the weight of an object affected whether it would float or sink. We discussed that boats are heavy, but they float and tried to work out how. The children noticed that metal objects tended to sink whilst plastic objects were more likely to float.
