On Thursday 7th March, we celebrated World Book Day! The children did an amazing job of coming to school dressed as a character from their favourite books. In Elm Class, we had quite the selection of characters including Paddington Bear, Where’s Wally, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins and Luigi!

Here are some photographs of the fantastic costumes and effort made in Year 4.

As our first World Book Day activity, we had to design a match box diorama where we had to create our favourite book cover on the outside of the matchbox and then create a setting from the story on the inside of it. As the match boxes were so tiny, it was quite fiddly and intricate, especially when designing the inside, but we persevered well.

We then did an ‘Escape the Room’ activity where we had to crack the code to escape from the classroom using our SPaG learning and knowledge. We had to solve the clues and puzzles hidden around the room and reveal the keypad code needed to open the door.

We had a wonderful day celebrating our love for books and reading!
