Acorn class have really enjoyed the theme ‘castles.’ Castles were built for important and wealthy people to live in. The people who lived in castles were usually kings, queens or lords and their families. There would also be soldiers, cooks and cleaners. Castles were designed to keep the people inside safe and to stop enemies from getting in.

Soldiers used shields to shield themselves from a barrage of arrows, stones, and other projectiles. Acorn children wanted to make their own shield, they had to paint it and then cut it out. Finally, they put a handle on the back to help them hold it like a real shield. They then enjoyed playing with them in our role play area. Can you notice the colours they have used? Can you spot any patterns or shapes on their shields.
